Covering all the bases

Note to self: Need at LEAST one month of prep before going on location for documentary shoot. I’m feeling a little out of my element shooting the show. I’ve been here two weeks, the mid-way point. And I’m beginning to feel the enormity of attempting to pull this thing off. Second note to self: Attempting to watch 25 films at a film festival and produce a tv show at the same time is ludicrous.

Erika was here for 10 of the last 14 days, but is safely back in LA. She has seen about twice as much of Singapore as I have. I’ve spent too much time trying to get organized with the show, and am still behind.

I did manage to take in a couple of screenings so far. Opening night of the fest was a Taiwanese film from an academic turned first time director. The film ‘Sincerely Yours’ was a little pedantic and overly languorous I felt. But the performances were top notch. I met a slew of people there thanks to the mighty Olivia, now known affectionately as Liv. Such a sweetheart. And Sun Koh who is also a star – no pun intended this time…

And the girls (Zhi Li and Valerie) have stepped up and are really looking out for me. I would be dead in the water with out the help of all these women!

Now the trick is cover all the bases from the paper edit, and translate these contacts into interviews. Harder than it sounds…

I must recommend a magnificent documentary I watched at Sinema. ‘State of Mind’ a doc about two N. Korean gymnasts who are training for the mass games held to honor the dear leader. A must see.
